There hasn’t been a lot of speculation on which DCU character The Rock will be playing in 2014… but I wonder.

I decided to create a quick visual guide to all the Man of Steel 2 news and rumors that are out there based on posts we’ve been sharing on this Tumblr and from the updates (or lack there of) from Zack Snyder’s online Q&A yesterday. Although the title of the film won’t be Batman vs Superman, the two will definitely get into a fight…

Well this is a perfect gif…

Man of Steel - Official Trailer 3

You’ll believe a man can fly again.

Jay Garrick ran onto the comic scene in 1940. His powers were given to him through inhaling the vapors of “hard water” and he dressed up in a costume inspired by the roman god Mercury under the name of The Flash. Unlike other superheroes, he shared his identity with his girlfriend, Joan Williams.

What else happened in 1940?

  • So many characters were introduced! So many that you’ll be hearing about 1940 again later this year. Among those who were introduced were Lex Luthor, Clayface, and Alan Scott, the first Green Lantern.
  • All Star comics was introduced as a comic where characters from DC four titles (Adventure Comics, More Fun Comics, All-American Comics, and Flash Comics) would have stories side by side. Readers were asked to send in a coupon to say which three characters they’d like to see added and which would they want to get the boot for the next issue. This however changed by issue #3.
  • Issue #3 of All Star comics introduced us to the Justice Society of America. This marked the first team of superheroes DC had. The first issue was more introductory as the members of the JSA sat around a table and shared stories about their previous adventures making it pretty much like the clip episode of Community.

Amanda Waller was introduced in the miniseries called Legends in 1986. Like most events it had it’s fair share of tie-in issues and set up revamps of the Suicide Squad and the Justice League. “The Wall” not only lost her husband but two of her five children the other three she sent to survive on their own once they had gotten their education. According to my book, her only super power is her steel will, wonder why the Guardians never sent her a green ring.

What else was going on in 1986?

  • A little book called Watchmen was published. It had something to do with nitty gritty superheroes. I don’t think many people remember it.
  • Aquaman wore his blue camouflaged suit forcing his enemies to say “Where did he go? I can’t see him through all this water. Wait I think I’m drowning.”
  • The story Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow? was written detailing the last days of Superman. Not only did his secret identity get revealed but he married Lois. Lex and Brainiac became one as well but they weren’t behind Superman’s troubles but that crazy inter-dimensional imp Mr. Mxyzptlk.

From xombiedirge:

Just returned from my Local Comic Shop and had to share this. They hold a Halloween party every year and my friend Ben cosplayed Lex Luthor!! More specifically he portrayed this portrait painting by Eric Peterson from the cover of Lex Luthor: The Unauthorised Biography. He even shaved his head completely bold for the exact look. Although it’s not visible he was also wearing a Kryptonite ring. Utter legend!!!

From Ain’t It Cool News:

Michael Rosenbaum WILL NOT return as Lex Luthor for the Smallville series finale…

I have to admit, I like Smallville, but in no way follow the show religiously. I’ve caught a few episodes every season and for the most part enjoyed them. I think this would be a terrible move if Rosenbaum really decides not to show his bald head one last time. He was such an important part of the show, and I understand he’s moved on, but the fans deserve to see the first meeting of Superman and Lex Luthor…
