New Batman and Robin series! Yes! And the team? Comics Alliance says:
The current creative team of Batman and Robin will remain with the title, but Bruce Wayne will star alongside Damian Wayne in a father-and-son twist on the concept. Batman and Robin was launched in 2009 as a vehicle for the new Batman, then Dick Grayson, to train Damian in the ways of heroism.
So Damian is Robin?!?!? Great, so glad the character remains in continuity. However, what does this mean for Dick, Tim, and Jason?
No news just yet…
I love this cover for Batman and Robin #23 which is a call back to the now classic cover of Batman and Robin #1. This will be the return of Jason Todd to the title, written by Red Hood’s favorite care taker Judd Winick. The solicit reads:
Jason Todd - Batman’s one-time sidekick, currently the anti-hero known as Red Hood - has been imprisoned in Arkham Asylum for the past several months. But after a period of good behavior, will a transfer to a lower-security prison mean reformation for Jason Todd … or is trouble waiting in the wings for Batman and Robin? Don’t miss “The Streets Run Red” part one of three!
Know Your DCU: Damian Wayne
When Ra’s Al Ghul was introduced to the Batman mythos many decades ago, his mission was very simple: to have Bruce Wayne and his daughter Talia to procreate a worthy heir to the Al Ghul empire. Damian Wayne is the result of that mission, but was kept a secret from Bruce Wayne up until recently. Grown in an artificial womb to keep the pregnancy from “The Detective”, Talia had Damian trained by the League of Assassins and became a formidable martial artist with a background in every form of weaponry.
Once he became a pre-teen Talia left Damian in Batman’s capable hands. Bruce, having raised many pre-teen boys already, introduced Damian to the Dark Knight’s world. However, when he met Bruce’s adopted son Tim Drake, Damian took that as a challenge and tried to kill Tim while wearing an old Robin costume. Batman naturally was not happy.
Damian went missing for a short time after that, returning to be there as his father faced his final days. After Bruce’s apparent death, Damian wanted to be the next Batman. Dick Grayson, the first Robin, decided it was up to him to become Batman and trains Damian as the new Robin. Tim Drake was not too happy to learn he was replaced, but he has become his own hero in Red Robin. Now, with Bruce back, Damian will stay on as Dick Grayson’s sidekick in the pages of Batman and Robin, much to the happiness of the fans!
Damian’s future looks bright with Dick, but there could be some darkness headed his way. It was revealed that he would one day become Batman (well, possibly “a” Batman) in a future filled with new villains and the return of one of Bruce’s former enemies…
Cameron Stewart posted his amazing “pencils” from Batman and Robin #16 on his BLOG the other day, and I must say they are rather amazing. I would love to buy the original pages! What’s that? There are no pages for sale? Why?
From Cameron Stewart’s blog post:
Unfortunately, none of these pages are for sale…as they don’t exist! I did this issue completely digitally, so there are no physical pages.
Wow, those are some very pretty digital drawings. I found the direction Stewart has added to “Insert Painting Here” pretty amusing. If you want to see more of his work from Batman and Robin #16 like the above image, or this jem:

Scott McDaniel looks to be bringing his A-game to Batman and Robin next month when he joins new series writer Paul Cornell. If you’d like to learn about the villain being introduced in their run, CLICK HERE. If not no big deal, you can just wait until issue 17 hits stores…
Comics Alliance: Batman and Robin #16 Annotations by David Uzumeri
Do I have to tell you clicking that link will lead to spoilers? Well, you’ve been warned…
This Wednesday Grant Morrison’s run on Batman and Robin comes to a close, and I can’t wait! So why should we? Check out THIS PREVIEW from DC’s The Source.
From Robot 6:
“Paul Cornell and Scott McDaniel will unite for a three-issue arc on Batman and Robin as the debut of Peter Tomasi and Patrick Gleason as the new regular creative team is delayed until February.”
Wow, that’s a pretty big shake up coming to one of DC’s top titles. I wonder what caused this, and when I find out I’ll be sure to post it here.
